Between Home & Hotel

Sales Gallery @ Genting Sky City

Designed as a show suite for a serviced residence in Genting, this project was conceived with two very different users in mind — the investor who owns the property, and the guest who would eventually experience it as a hotel stay.

Rather than approaching the unit purely as a residence, we looked at it through the lens of hospitality. The spaces needed to feel warm and welcoming enough for a weekend escape, while remaining practical, durable and easy for a hotel operator to manage.

The material palette was intentionally warm, responding to Genting's cooler mountain setting. Timber finishes, textured walls, layered fabrics and ambient lighting create a sense of retreat, while the planning remains compact and functional. Each room was designed to offer the familiarity of home, with subtle cues borrowed from a hotel environment.

Looking back, the aesthetic reflects its time — but the thinking behind it remains relevant: designing not simply for how a space looks, but for how it will be experienced, operated and lived in.
